Kents right if the students who dont take school seriously could see there was a short-term reward for their effort then they might try harder in school. Even if the schools were unwilling to pay students parents could pay their children money. For high school students they would probably be more willing to work at school than have other jobs if they were paid for grades. Students would have more drive to get good test scores if they were paid.

I agree kids should be free to express themselves and have a choice in what they wear to school. I also think that if a school would require uniforms there would be students who would misplace or lose the uniforms or get them dirty. I understand why some private schools have uniforms but for many public schools their just isn't a real need for them. About.com says that "Because uniforms single out students as being from one school, this might lead to trouble with students from other schools." This could be a problem at sporting events or other school activities.

I agree with Hunter. Homework can be very helpful to students who need more time with the subject they are working on. You cant expect someone to sit in a math class all day and know how to do every problem correctly without trying them on their own. Many think their is no point to homework because it doesn't yield long term results, like scholastic.com that says homework isnt helping students but just frustrates them. While this may be true, I feel it's needed because without it students could sit through class and never learn anything. Then when it's time to take a test they fail.

Many people use cell phones on the road and other devices that distract them. With the laws that are in place right now many continue to text and drive. However many of these distractions are for the most part, unavoidable. Texting while driving is the biggest distraction according to Distraction.gov a quarter of teens respond or send a text while driving and many others admit to having multi-message conversations when driving. To help prevent fatal crashes i believe people need a higher education on the matter. Laws can only do so much which is why people need to understand what could happen if they are texting while driving.

I have read many of the banned books and can say they never affected me in a negative way. Many of these books are classics and its a shame if students couldn't read them. I feel like these books are important and shouldn't be banned because they are bad. http://www.oclc.org/
