The government shouldn't pay for this because it is already 17 trillion in debt. We don't need to add to that. If we are paid 5 dollars a test for doing good that is not going to be enough to save up for college or get things you want. If kids want a source of income they should go get a job.

I think getting paid to have a good grade is not right. A good grade should be enough satisfaction. Time Magazine said “It could destroy any chance of fostering a love of learning.” and I think this is very true. If we weren’t required to go to school I don’t think most people would show up. School can be a bore, but you have to get past that and learn to love the knowledge you are given and not just do it for a paycheck.

We need homework to teach us how to handle stress. In the real world we will be faced with lots of stress. Much more than homework gives us and if we don’t have homework we will not know how to handle it. Homework also teaches you how to manage your time as said here by WebMD “With today's heavy homework loads, time-management and organizational skills are crucial weapons against stress, experts say.”

“Homework is very necessary. It is a good tool used in school that improves students' understanding of what they learned in class. Homework is practice and practice makes perfect. Homework allows students to do work on their own without in class guidance and figure things out. This helps them learn better.” says Debate. We need homework so we can learn to do things on our own. It usually doesn’t take that long to do and for the most part it is easy. If you don’t know how to do it then you can look it up on the internet or you can simply ask your teacher in the morning.

I don’t think it matters if we have laws against distracted driving because we already have some and they don’t work. Iowa already has a ban on all cell phone use (handheld and hands-free) for novice drivers and a ban on texting for all drivers according to Distraction.gov so it does not matter if we have more laws on it because it’s not helping.

Now of days kids don’t want to get their homework done because they want to play video games. Kids don’t want to go outside anymore and if they really wanted to they could take their homework outside with them.

I do see your point on when you have to work or when you have to babysit, but it teaches you how to manage things. Homework is given to you so you can practice what you are learning.

I think there has been a moral decline in students over the years. Since this has happened students don’t think that cheating is that bad. “Research about cheating among college students has shown the following to be the primary reasons for cheating: Campus norm; No honor code; Penalties not severe; Faculty support of academic integrity policies is low; Little chance of being caught; Incidence is higher at larger, less selective institutions.” said the ETS.

The world is also teaching students to cheat. One student on ABC News said ‘“The real world is terrible," he told Gibson. "People will take other people's materials and pass it on as theirs. I'm numb to it already. I'll cheat to get by."’ Students think it is a part of life and this is why they do it.

I think we should be able to choose what books we want to read. There are limits, such as sexual content that is not needed in school, but books such as "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" should not be banned.

The First Amendment guarantees our right to free speech, which includes the right to read and write books that might be considered by some to be too violent, hateful, or offensive. It is our right to read what we want.
